Breathing Treatment

Breathing treatments work by delivering medication directly into the lungs in the form of a mist. These treatments are used to aid in the recovery of upper respiratory conditions like asthma or bronchitis.

The medication is placed into a nebulizer (a device that turns the liquid into a mist) and is inhaled through a mask held over the mouth and nose. The mist carries the medication deep into the airways and lungs, allowing for quick absorption into the respiratory system and ultimately the opening of airways in the lungs. For children who cannot hold the mask themselves, fitted masks are available for a hands-free breathing treatment.

Breathing treatments are done in the clinic or can be prescribed at home. Each PromptMed Urgent Care has nebulizers available for sale, if necessary. If you or a loved one feel they may need a breathing treatment, our providers at PromptMed Urgent Care are equipped to aid in your care.
