Vaginitis (Yeast Infection)
What is it?
Vaginitis is a broad term that refers to inflammation or infection of the vagina, yeast infection being just one of the various causes of vaginitis. Other causes of vaginitis could be bacterial vaginosis, Trichomoniasis, or simply an allergic reaction or irritant to a recent product. Such as soap, douche, or a condom.
A yeast infection is a common fungal infection caused by an overgrowth of a kind of yeast called Candida. While Candida typically lives harmlessly in the skin and in areas like the mouth, throat, gut and vagina, an imbalance in the body’s environment can cause it to multiply, leading to an infection
